  • I competed in the rodeo when I was in high school, and I earned ribbons in bulldogging and barrel racing.
  • I am a first-generation American, and I’m the first in my family to get a college degree.
  • I love dark roast coffee with cinnamon, strong and black.
  • I also love peppermint tea.
  • I love books and crave bookstores.
  • I collect pine cones.
  • I’m a fast reader and a really slow writer.
  • I think that asking someone to name their favorite book is cruel and unfair.
  • My definition of a good day is when you wake up excited by what you get to do that day and go to bed at night convinced that what you did that day mattered.
  • I was traumatized by a telephone when I was a kid, and I still avoid them.
  • I currently deadlift 105 pounds, but I’m working on it.
  • My favorite poets are Mary Oliver, Malcolm Guite, Billy Collins, and the lesser-known poems of e. e. cummings.
