tapping the keys of Warnie's typewriter
When I visited C.S. Lewis’s house, The Kilns, I was delighted to see that his brother’s typewriter was on display. Warnie typed up manuscripts, wrote letters, and drafted his own books on that sturdy machine. Something very satisfying in the patterns and textures and sounds of an old machine. Something very humbling to touch lightly on the keys of history.

Brings to mind the time I managed to a examine a copy of Cicero (or was it Homer?) that Robert E. Lee had read as a child while at his granddaddy's home at Shurley Plantation in Virginia. Only if that old typewriter or book could have spoken.

That looks a lot more like the typewriter that Kent State put on the cover of your book than I was expecting. Wow!
